WA, SA & NT
Phase 2, Learning Workshop 3
Perth 26th & 27th February 2009
The third and final WA, SA & NT learning workshop was held at the Sheraton in Perth on 26th & 27th February 2008. The event attracted over 140 participants from
general practice, representatives from Divisions, and other related fields from across WA, SA and NT.
Plenary guest speakers included Dr Mike Civil (WA, SA & NT Clinical Chair), Dr Tony Lembke (APCC Clinical Director), Dr Lynne Davies (APCC CHD Expert Reference Panel) and Mt Tom Holman (Managing Director, Ultrafeedback).
Dr Andrew Knight (Chair, Access and Care Redesign Expert Reference Panel) hosted Dr Mike Civil (Stirk Medical Group WA & WA, SA & NT Clinical Chair), Natalie Watts (Practice Manager, Lockridge Medical Centre WA), Carole Meade (Clinical Care Coordinator, Brooke St Medical Centre VIC) & Janine Slater (Practice Manager, Brunswick Heads Medical centre, NSW) in a panel discussion about sustaining change within the practice.
Other speakers included GPs, practice nurses and
practice managers who were invited from around Australia to present learning sessions using
their personal and professional experiences in promoting positive outcomes in primary health
care. Breakout sessions included topics on Mini Clinics, Patient Self-Management, Allied Care, and the Final Frontier (practices going boldly where no practice has gone before!).
Divisions and their practices 'shared generously' their Collaboratives journey to date by displaying poster and electronic storyboards at the workshop. There were many very creative and interesting storyboards with GP Downsouth, WA taking out the prize for most popular poster with a 3D model of a train track and GP Network South, SA taking out the prize for best electronic storyboard.
