Improvement can be across all CHD and diabetes measures from baseline. Access measures have not yet been collected so have not been reported for June 08.

State wave dates for Phase 2 of the APCC Program

The Improvement Foundation Australia is pleased to announce that Phase 2 wave dates for all states have been finalised. State waves will commence with orientation days in the months indicated.

NSW, QLD, & ACT
All waves listed as NSW will include practices from QLD and the ACT.

NSW Wave 1 – May 2008
NSW Wave 2 – May 2009
NSW Wave 3 - April 2010

WA, SA, & NT
All waves listed as WA will include practices from SA and the NT.

WA Wave 1 – Jul 2008

Victoria
All waves listed as VIC will include practices from TAS.

NPCC Update - 5 December 2007
Collaboratives a Hit at AGPN Forum

Collaboratives presentations were a hit among participants at the recent AGPN Forum held in Hobart, as NPCC heads toward successful completion of the current extension phase.

Victorian Regional Manager, Catuscia Biuso, spoke in detail about 'Getting on board with Collaboratives', while Dr Tony Lembke, NPCC Collaborative Chair and Wave 1 participant entertained the crowd with his practice's experience in the Program.

The Collaboratives program will continue to be run by NPCC and Flinders University until January 2008.

NPCC's Prof Liz Farmer first female GP appointed Dean of a Medical School
in Australia

National Primary Care Collaboratives (NPCC) Director of Education, Professor Liz Farmer, is the first female GP to be appointed Dean of an Australian medical school following her appointment last week to the position of Dean of the new Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Wollongong.

Professor Farmer, who has worked on the Collaboratives program since its inception in 2004, will remain in her role as Director of Education for the NPCC as she steps into the deanship over the coming months and will also continue to act as an advisor on future Program activity.

NPCC welcomes $34.6 million Budget announcement

The National Primary Care Collaboratives (NPCC) heralds last week’s Australian Government Budget announcement of $34.6 million to continue and expand the Australian Primary Care Collaboratives Program as an enormous win for patients with chronic disease.

The Collaboratives Program is set to expand by an additional 800 general practices to involve a total of 1300 participating practices over the next 4 years
